3rd Grade Overview

March 14 - 20

F&F: We are starting our unit on “Compare and Contrast.” The Skills and Vocab tests will be on Wednesday, March 18th. The Performance Test will be on Thursday, March 19th. The vocabulary words and a page detailing the unit are in the “F&F” pocket of your child’s white binder. 


Math: We are starting Unit 5. The test for this unit will be on Thursday, March 19th. We are beginning our 6’s multiplication table. Your student will have 5 minutes to complete the quiz. The 9’s quiz will take place on Friday, March 27th. We will practice in class, but it is imperative that you also study at home. 


Spelling: There will be no spelling test this week because of Grandparents’ Day on Friday!


Language: We are starting our new unit on "Pre-Fixes.” The test for this unit will be on Tuesday, March 17th. Your child will have the “Sketch Notes” paper in the "Language" pocket of their white binder to study. 


Writing (Mrs. Adams): In writing class, the students have started their “Student Treasures” project. Information on how to order went home in Tuesday folders. Students will be working as a class to create a class book that is published through Student Treasures. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Adams.


Science (Ms. Richardson): Please note the test and the Egg Drop have swapped days!! We will be starting our new unit on Simple Machines. The test for this unit will be on Friday, March 27th. The Egg Drop for this unit will be on Thursday, March 26th. 


Social Studies (Mrs. Mercer): Students will be starting their “3 Branches of Government” Unit. The test for this unit will be on Monday, March 23rd. 


NOTES: 

  • It can be cold in our classrooms. Please make sure that your child has an appropriate sweater, sweatshirt (BBS logo on the front) to wear in the classroom. ***Please make sure to label your child’s jacket/sweater/sweatshirt. 

  • Due to rotations (Science, Social Studies, and Writing) going up to 3:00, we ask that they not leave earlier than that time. Of course, we understand if there are Dr. appointments.

  • Don’t forget to send in a snack and water bottle each day. Water bottles need to be screw on tops labeled with their name.

  • Please do not take things out of their binder pockets or “return” side without returning them. We will be using those items in class on a daily basis. This also includes interactive notebooks.
