Third Grade Overview

   October 13-16


F&F: We will continue our second unit with “Summarization”. Students will bring home a copy of their visual tool, process questions, pattern statement, and vocabulary for the unit. Our “Skills and Vocabulary” tests will take place on Tuesday, October 20th. The Performance Test will take place on Wednesday, October 21st. 


Math: We are continuing Unit 2 of math. In this unit students are going to be introduced to multiplication, with specific strategies. They will be learning how to do loops and groups and number line jumps. Our test over Unit 2 is scheduled for Friday, October 30th. 


Spelling: Students will have their first spelling test over Unit 8 on Friday, October 16th. Their spelling words can be found in the “Spelling” pocket of their THINK binder or in their Agenda for this week. 


ELA (Mrs. Adams): Students will continue working on rough drafts for their “ouch moments.” 


Science (Ms. Richardson): Students will continue their second unit on Planets. There is no test for the Planet Unit, instead there will be a planet project due Tuesday, October 27th! The WonderWorks field trip will be on Friday, November 13th.


Social Studies (Mrs. Mercer): Students will continue their second unit on Continents and Oceans. The test date on this unit is Monday, November 2nd.


Our required First Quarter Parent Teacher Conferences will take place between October 5th and October 23rd. You will be receiving an email from your child’s teacher with more information!


NOTES: 

  • It can be cold in our classrooms. Please make sure that your child has an appropriate sweater, sweatshirt (BBS logo on the front) to wear in the classroom. ***Please make sure to label your child’s jacket/sweater/sweatshirt. 

  • Due to rotations (Science, Social Studies, and Writing) going up to 3:00, we ask that they not leave earlier than that time. Of course, we understand if there are Dr. appointments.

  • Don’t forget to send in a snack and water bottle each day. Water bottles need to be screw on tops labeled with their name.

  • Please do not take things out of their binder pockets or “return” side without returning them. We will be using those items in class on a daily basis. This also includes interactive notebooks.
