3rd Grade Overview

November 22 - December 5

F&F

We are continuing our “Cause and Effect” Unit. The Skills and Vocabulary tests will take place on Wednesday, December 3rd. The Performance Test will take place on Thursday, December 4th.


Math

We are in the middle of Unit 3. The test for this unit will be on Wednesday, December 17th. We are beginning our 5’s multiplication table. Your students will have 5 minutes to complete the quiz. The 5’s quiz will take place on Friday, December 12th. We will practice in class, but it is imperative that you also study at home. 


Spelling

Students will have their spelling test over Unit 15 on Thursday, December 4th, due to the WonderWorks Field Trip. A spelling sheet can be found in the “Spelling” pocket of their THINK binder or in their Agenda for this week. 


Language

Students will start their next unit on Regular Verbs this week after our Verbs test. The test for Regular Verbs will be on Wednesday, December 3rd.


Writing (Mrs. Adams)

In writing, students will be continuing their “How To” Unit. In this unit students will work on time order words and transitional phrases.


Science (Ms. Richardson)

The students will be continuing their unit on “Planets.” Instead of a test, the students will have a Planet Project due on Monday, December 8th. Don’t forget, the WonderWorks field trip is on Friday, December 5th.


Social Studies (Mrs. Mercer)

Students will start their unit on “Christmas Around the World”. Instead of a test, the students will have a project due on either Monday, December 15th, or Tuesday, December 16th, depending on their number. 


Reminders

  • It can be cold in our classrooms. Please make sure that your child has an appropriate sweater, sweatshirt (BBS logo on the front) to wear in the classroom. ***Please make sure to label your child’s jacket/sweater/sweatshirt. 

  • Due to rotations (Science, Social Studies, and Writing) going up to 3:00, we ask that they not leave earlier than that time. Of course, we understand if there are Dr. appointments.

  • Don’t forget to send in a snack and water bottle each day. Water bottles need to be screw on tops labeled with their name.

  • Please do not take things out of their binder pockets or “return” side without returning them. We will be using those items in class on a daily basis. This also includes interactive notebooks.
