December 20 - January 9

F&F: We are starting our next unit on “Plot.” The Skills and Vocab tests will be on Monday, January 26th. The Performance Test will be on Tuesday, January 27th. The vocabulary words and a page detailing the unit will be in the “F&F” pocket of your child’s white binder.

Math: We are starting our Unit 4. The test for this unit will be on Monday, February 9th. We are beginning our 6’s multiplication table. Your students will have 5 minutes to complete the quiz. The 6’s quiz will take place on Friday, January 16th. We will practice in class, but it is imperative that you also study at home.

Spelling: Students will have their spelling test over Unit 17 on Friday, January 9th. A spelling sheet can be found in the “Spelling” pocket of their THINK binder or in their Agenda for this week.

Language: We are starting our new unit on “Adverbs.” The test for this unit will be on Thursday, January 15th. Your child will have the “Sketch Notes” paper in the "Language" pocket of their white binder to study.

Writing (Mrs. Adams): In writing class, the students are going to begin working on their “Landmarks” Unit. They will be picking a landmark and writing essays on them.

Science (Ms. Richardson): The students will be starting their unit on “Penguins.” Instead of a test, the students will have a Penguin Project, which they will complete in class. They will have a Penguin Day on Friday, January 30th. The students may dress as penguins on this day; however, if they do not dress up they must be in a school uniform.

Social Studies (Mrs. Mercer): Students will start their “China” Unit. A test for this unit will be forthcoming.

NOTES:

  • It can be cold in our classrooms. Please make sure that your child has an appropriate sweater, sweatshirt (BBS logo on the front) to wear in the classroom. ***Please make sure to label your child’s jacket/sweater/sweatshirt.

  • Due to rotations (Science, Social Studies, and Writing) going up to 3:00, we ask that they not leave earlier than that time. Of course, we understand if there are Dr. appointments.

  • Don’t forget to send in a snack and water bottle each day. Water bottles need to be screw on tops labeled with their name.

  • Please do not take things out of their binder pockets or “return” side without returning them. We will be using those items in class on a daily basis. This also includes interactive notebooks.
