B.S. – Tennessee Temple University

Janine McCurdy was born in Live Oak, Florida. She moved to Chattanooga as a young child and has lived here for 48 years. After attending Tennessee Temple High School, she continued her education at Tennessee Temple University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She met her husband while attending college and they married in 1980 shortly after graduation. They are blessed to be the parents of Ben who lives in Chattanooga and Christina who recently married and lives in Nashville with her husband Steven. She has been in education for the past 25 years, 22 of those years at Grace Academy serving in various roles which have included media specialist, admissions director and 5th and 6th grade teacher. The past 3 years she has been the director of dual enrollment at Bryan College. She is excited to return to her first love which is teaching elementary children. A friend recently reminded her of why she entered education many years ago which was the opportunity to invest into the lives of her students and families. Her prayer is that she will let her “light shine before others so that they will see her good works and glorify the Father which is in heaven” Matthew 5:16.

Mrs. McCurdy considers herself blessed to be doing life together with her husband of 36 years as well as spending time with her adult children and recent soninlaw. She is looking forward to one day being a grandmother. She also enjoys spending time with lifelong friends chatting over a good cup of Starbucks chai tea, reading a good book on a rainy day, working in her flower garden, or taking long walks.
She has had the privilege to have been involved in a ministry in Togo, West Africa where she along with former colleagues helped to establish 15 Christian schools and a teacher training program for the Togolese teachers. She and her husband have been active members of Woodland Park Baptist Church for the past 31 years.
