Koko Payne, 1st Grade Teacher

B.S. – University of Tennessee, Chattanooga

Koko has lived in Chattanooga most of her life.  She attended Ooltewah High School where she met and later married her husband of 28 years, Barry Payne.   Their two sons, Cameron and Cody attended Brainerd Baptist School. Their family has grown with the addition of a daughter-in-law, Danielle Payne.  They worship at Silverdale Baptist Church.  Koko has been teaching for 25 years.  She began her teaching career in the Chattanooga Public School System where she taught 3rd grade, 6th grade and also 1st grade for 5 years.  She then took time off from teaching to begin a family.  When her youngest son was in K4 she returned to the teaching field as a teacher here at BBS.  During her career at BBS she has taught K3, K5, and this will be her 13th year to teach first grade.  Koko enjoys traveling, kayaking, paddle boarding, playing with her dogs Lucy and Baxter, and spending time on the lake with her family and friends.
