Cheryl Johnson, 1st Grade Teacher

Cheryl Johnson feels so blessed to be teaching K4 at Brainerd Baptist this year! Cheryl has been either teaching, subbing or raising children for the last 35 years. She has taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, K3, and her favorite, K4. She finds a true joy sharing Jesus with young children while encouraging them in their creativity and learning through reading, play, song, personal interaction, problem solving and hands-on experience.
Cheryl is originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She graduated from the University of Florida, where she met her husband of almost 35 years, Jeff Johnson. Jeff, is a State Farm Agent in Ooltewah. They have lived in Chattanooga for, 18 years and have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Their youngest, Sarah, is beginning college this year at UTK studying nursing. That means they are empty nesters for the first time in 31 years! Jeff and Cheryl are active members of North Shore Fellowship. In their spare time they love to play tennis and spend time with their grandchildren.
Matthew 22:37-39 is one of Cheryl’s favorite passages and is often her class verse. Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment.And thesecond is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ “
