4th Grade Overview

 January 31, 2012

Literacy Block

Reading- We will have the vocabulary, performance, and skill test this week for F & F.  Mrs. Werner’s class will complete “ Fact and Opinion” and Ms. Starnes’ class will complete “Cause and Effect.”

Spelling- Test over list 18 will be on Wednesday, February 1.

Language- We will continue in Unit 7, “Adverbs.”   The test will be on Wednesday, February 8.

Math- We will work on grams, kilograms, tables, and division with zeros in three-digit answers.  We will have a math assessment on Thursday, February 2.

Social Studies- We completed chapter 3 and took our test today, January 31.  We will begin chapter 4, “Building the First Colonies”, on Wednesday, February 1.

Science- We will begin chapter 5, “Systems of the Human

Body.”

Bible:  Matthew 7:8 - "For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."  Verse test will be on Thursday, February 16, 2012, in the classroom.

Music:  Speaking parts for Grandparents’ Day must be memorized by Friday. Handbells meets Wednesday; money is due if not already paid.

Spanish:  On Friday, January 6, students were assigned the Room in a Shoebox project.  Detailed instructions about the project were sent home.  The due date for the project is Wednesday, February 15.  Vocabulary lists with the Spanish words that the students will need to label the items in their rooms have also been given to the students to take home.  PLEASE NOTE:  STUDENTS MAY NOT USE ANY INTERNET SEARCH ENGINES OR ONLINE TRANSLATION SERVICES TO LOCATE NEEDED WORDS THAT ARE NOT ON THE LISTS.  THEY MUST CONSULT WITH MRS. FISHER AND GET THE PROPER WORD(S) FROM HER. 

Valentine’s Day Party

We will be going to Holiday Bowl on Brainerd Road on Thursday, February 9.  This is a half-day.  We need to be there at 9:00 until 10:30.  We will need drivers for this trip.  If you can drive, please e-mail your teacher or send in a note, telling her how many students you can take.  We will exchange valentines before we go bowling.
