3rd Grade Overview
January 31. 2012
BIBLE: Psalm 23:1-3 - "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake." Verse test will be on Thurs., 2/16.
MATH: We are working on making change for a dollar, reading and writing 5-digit numbers and writing in expanded form. Students need to continue practicing multiplication facts as this will help with division.
LANGUAGE: Our Adjectives test is scheduled for Friday, February 3rd. Students are learning words to use to describe which one, what kind and how many. We are proud of the effort students are putting into their writing.

SCIENCE: We are finishing our unit on Weather. Students have enjoyed sharing stories about weather they have experienced.
SOCIAL STUDIES: We will continue to learn about the Thirteen Colonies and the events that led to the Declaration of Independence.

We will be having our Valentine’s Day bowling party on Thurs., 2/9. We will leave school around
8:45 a.m. and return by 11:30 a.m.
Students will exchange cards/treats on Tues., February 14th (Valentine’s Day). A list of student names will be sent home. Each student should design a Valentine box/holder to bring to school on this day.
Students may distribute cards to everyone in their class, or everyone in third grade.
