· “See You at the Pole” is Wednesday, September 27. Students and parents will meet at the flagpole at 7:50 a.m.

· Want to upgrade to the Annual Lunch Plan? - Friday, September 29, is the deadline to sign-up for the Annual Lunch Plan and have your 10-day or 30-day lunch ticket amount deducted from the total. The annual plan for students in K3-2nd grade is $500 ($2.85 per day). The annual plan for students in 3rd-5th grade is $675 ($3.85 per day). Sign Up Form

· Holiday Care will be offered on October 5, 6, and 9. Hours are 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Students will need to brink a sack lunch and drink. Snacks will be provided. Holiday Care will be billed as ASC charges at $3.50/hour through Kinderlime. Space is limited and by reservation only. Remember, a reservation is a commitment and will be charged a minimum fee. Sign Up Form

· BBS Fall Festival is Friday, October 20, 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. An information packet with the t-shirt order form was sent home in the Tuesday folders. A great way to advertise your business is by sponsoring a booth or activity at our Fall Festival. We will print a sign naming your business and place it at the booth of your choice.

Sponsorship is $300. Contact Ellen Baggenstoss in the school office if you would like to participate in a sponsorship.

First Grade Overview

BIBLE: There are no written verse tests this first semester, but Mr. Owens will begin implementing verse tests (fill in the blank with word bank) beginning in January 2018.

In Bible, we will continue to orally reinforce the following memory verses:

Genesis 1:1 - “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

Romans 6:23 - “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Genesis 15:6 -  “And he believed the LORD, and he counted it to him as righteousness.”

Colossians 1:15-  “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation."

On Wednesday, September 27th, at 7:50 a.m., 1st-5th graders will have the opportunity to participate in the national prayer campaign, "See You At The Pole."

Phonics: Review of letters M, E, digraph -ck, spelling with -ck and final k.

Assessment: Test Friday will cover the information found on the classwork and homework sheets that go home.

Spelling:  The list goes home every Monday in the homework folder on the take home side. is also a good resource.

Test on List 3:

as, is, so, its, sit, and, did, last, stop, land

Sentences: 1. I stop a lot.   2. I did it last.

Foundations and Frameworks: The next couple of weeks we are focusing on Sequence of Events. This information will go home in your child’s Tuesday folder for review at home.

Students will be tested on the pattern statement, process questions, visual tool, and vocabulary October 26th and October 27th.

We will cover the following vocabulary:

tug, weep, suddenly, familiar, clutched, mold, pounce, wade, properly, whiff

MATH: This week in marvelous math we will work on counting dimes, counting by 2’s, telling time by the hour, and subtraction facts like subtracting 0 and a number from itself.
Assessment: Test Friday

Assessments cover the information on worksheets your child has brought home for homework from the previous week.

SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES:  September will be all about Asia!

Students will need to be able to recite “The Tiger” poem by Friday, September 29, 2017. This poem will be in your child’s Tuesday folder.

Box Tops- Please submit Box Tops to your teacher to earn money for your child’s classroom. Each Box Top = 10 cents.

October 5th - Fall break begins. No school Thursday, October 5 through Monday, October 9. School resumes October 10th.

October 13th – 1st quarter ends and BBS Spirit Day. Any BBS t-shirt with approved civilian shorts, pants (girls- no leggings or running shorts).
