3rd Grade Overview


BIBLE:  James 1:19 – “My dear brothers, take note of this: everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.”  The verse test will be on Friday, October 9, 2015.

READING:  We are starting our new unit on Main Idea. This unit your child will be reading different non-fiction books and articles.

MATH: We will begin our new unit on Subtraction.

LANGUAGE:  We will be reviewing over Nouns. There will be a noun test on Thursday, October 15.

SPELLING:  We will be studying Unit 8 words. The test will be on Friday, October 9.  You can log on to spelling city to practice: http://www.spellingcity.com/jkrobinson/.

SCIENCE:   We will continue to learn about the different phases of the moon. We will also begin to talk about constellations.

SOCIAL STUDIES:  We will be continue our Unit on Early Explorers. The test will be on Wednesday, October 14.


  • Students may enter the classrooms at 8:00.  If they arrive before that time, they will need to go to morning care (cafeteria).
  • Don’t forget to use the math website: connectED.mcgraw-hill.com.  The tutor and ehelp are great icons to click on for help/review.  We will be sending your child’s password and username as soon as possible.
  • We are collecting Box Tops!! Don’t forget, this goes directly to our classroom.
  • To prepare our students for fourth grade, we require that students capitalize and punctuate their sentences correctly.  One point will be deducted for each of these.
