3rd Grade Overview


BIBLE: Hebrews 11:1- 2 “ Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. “Verse test on Wednesday, December 16.

READING:  We will finish up with Cause and Effect this week.  The Skill and Vocabulary Test will be on November 19. The Performance test will be on November 20.

MATH: We are beginning a new unit on Division. Don’t forget about XtraMath. This is a great tool for learning math facts.

LANGUAGE:  We will be talking about helping verbs this week.

SPELLING:  We will be studying Unit 14 words. The test will be on Friday, November 20.  You can log on to spelling city to practice: http://www.spellingcity.com/jkrobinson/.

SCIENCE:   We will continue a new unit on planets. We will be learning about the different planets this week.   

SOCIAL STUDIES: We will watch a video of Colonial Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown.  We will also be watching Pocahontas on Friday, November 20.  The students will be able to try hardtack (hard biscuits) and tea from England.

MUSIC: For this year’s Christmas musical, students need to plan to wear the following:

Boys should wear a red top and khaki pants. Girls may wear the same or may wear holiday attire (dresses or skirts) in a red and white color scheme.  3rdgraders can add to their costume–mittens (no gloves, please), earmuffs, or a hat. They will be representing children in winter wear.
