First Grade Overview
October 21st, 2014
BIBLE: Ephesians 6:1 – “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.” The oral verse test will be on Tuesday, October 28, 2014.
Phonics: We will be covering contractions, i-e, and e-e. Test on Friday, October 24th.
Spelling: Test over List 6- Test on October 24th:
go, hi, am, get, him, ten, best, help, pick, black, you, what
Sentences: 1. Get a can of clams. 2. What can you print?
Foundations and Frameworks: The next couple of days we are wrapping up Sequence of Events.
Students will be tested on the pattern statement, process questions, visual tool, and vocabulary by Friday, October 24th
Pattern Statement: There is an order to how things happen.

- What happened next?

We will cover the following vocabulary:
tug, weep, suddenly, familiar, clutched, mold, pounce, wade, properly
MATH: This week in marvelous math we will work on writing number words 0-10, identifying pairs, identifying ordinal position to 26 (sixteenth, twentieth, twenty-sixth), reading a graph, graphing pieces used to cover a design.
Assessment: Test on Friday, October 24th.
Assessments cover the information on worksheets your child has brought home for homework from the previous week.
Science and Social Studies: October will be all about Africa!
Students who have earned their AR shirts may wear them untucked every Wednesday with uniform shorts, pants, or skirts.
Students may bring extra money to lunch to purchase ice cream from our 5th grade on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Prices vary depending on what item is purchased.
Wednesday ice cream is a quarter if your child has a lunchbox. It is free if your child is getting a school lunch.
Box Tops turn-in date is Thursday, October 23rd.
Please submit Box Tops to your teacher to earn money for your child’s classroom prior to that date.
$2 donation earns your child a Halloween colors civilian day on October 31st. No costumes.
Return signed report cards inside the envelope sent home to your teacher no later than Friday, October 24th.
